Sometimes the only thing you can do is let go and embrace new beginnings.
Too often life gets way to hard, overly complicated, dramatic, and just plain messy. Is it possible to start over and not feel like you’re starting at square one?
The past few years have been tough for me and it’s hard not to be bitter. It’s hard not to ask: Why me? It’s hard not to feel like I want to hoard the good things I have. But that’s not how I want to live my life. Helping others is what gives my life meaning. Unless you’re dead, the ending is usually the beginning of something so much better. They say that as one door closes another one opens. It’s the universe’s way of giving us a chance to reinvent ourselves.
So, I’ve decided to begin this new chapter of my life with a focus on kindness. It’s not about being over the top, doing all these things at once, or spending tons of money or time. It’s about finding small things that can make a big difference in someone else’s life. When I shift my attitude a little each day, from myself and my problems, to focus on others, fantastic things happen around me.
And I feel AMAZING!
Whatever it is that has you “starting over” in 2018, I hope you’ll join me. By focusing on kindness, I hope it will get you on the road to finding new beginnings…in whatever way that means for you.
It can seem impossible because sometimes happiness or joy can seem so far away. Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, a well timed text, or an honest compliment to let someone know they’re being thought of.
Yet the smallest act of caring has the potential to turn a life around.
The crazy thing about life is these things come at the most random times. They come when we least expect it and we don’t even realize they’re there, or that they’ve been waiting for us the whole time.
We don’t have to wait for New Year’s to unlock our new beginning. May you find happiness and joy today!
